Race the Tape
Of all the barrier lines Zach practiced before Sunday’s race, he chose the one that avoided the barriers and got penalized.
This one time, Dan Norton (legendary PNW Cross racer and World Champion) accused me of being a tape rubber. That’s like a knuckle dragger, an uncivil racer, a beast of a man. If I remember correctly, as it was a long time ago, the course tape that directed racers into a mud bog had fallen over and I avoided the bog. Dan saw this grievous act, posted in the Seattle CX forums and a flame war erupted. The next weekend, this sign appeared to keep me on course with no erroneous mud avoidance.
Maybe someone can make those for Zach? Rule book or no and reasons why explained, the community expects a race inside the tape.
I still have the sign, btw, it hangs on my office wall. So shamed by the incident, I’ve even stopped during a race to fix tape.
